💫 Self-Care Leadership, Team Energy & The Way We Show Up
There’s been a theme sitting with me lately, both in the workplace and in the conversations I’ve been having with women. It’s something I’ve found myself reflecting on more and more, and it comes down to one simple thought: how we show up matters.
Not only for our patients and colleagues, but for ourselves as well.
After more than 50 years as a Registered Nurse, one of the things I’ve always treasured most is the sense of camaraderie that develops within a team. It’s rarely about grand gestures or dramatic moments. More often, it’s found in the quieter acts of kindness a glance across the room that says, "I've got you," someone stepping in to lend a hand before being asked, or noticing a colleague is struggling and simply being present for them.
Those moments might seem small, but they create something much bigger. They build trust, connection and a workplace where people feel supported rather than alone.
Communication is a big part of that. Yet communication is about far more than the words we speak. It's reflected in our body language, our energy, our willingness to listen and the way we respond under pressure. People often remember how we made them feel long after they've forgotten exactly what we said.
Of course, healthcare isn't always calm and connected. There are days when the pace is relentless, the workload is overwhelming and the emotional demands seem endless. During those times it's easy to become focused on simply getting through the shift, and before we realise it, we're carrying far more than we should.
I've often found myself wondering how many nurses and carers quietly ask themselves the same questions at the end of a difficult day.
Did anyone notice how hard I was trying? Did I make a difference? Does anyone really see what I'm carrying?

These experiences have taught me that self-care leadership isn't about adding another task to an already full day. It's about becoming more aware of ourselves. It's noticing how we're feeling, recognising when we're running on empty, and paying attention to the way we speak to ourselves when things don't go to plan.
The relationship we have with ourselves influences every interaction we have with others. When we treat ourselves with more compassion, we naturally become more patient, more present and more connected with the people around us.
This week, I'd love to encourage you to create just a few moments to reconnect with yourself. Before you leave work, pause and take a few slow breaths. Create a simple ritual that helps you transition from work to home, whether that's a walk, a shower, quiet music or simply sitting with a cup of tea.
Step outside whenever you can, nourish your body with kindness, and perhaps most importantly, notice the conversation happening inside your own mind.
💞 How are you speaking to yourself after a challenging day?
💕 Would you offer those same words to a dear friend?

That question has become increasingly important to me, particularly after recently returning to support Carol Johnston-Mollica and Luke during their NLP Practitioner training. Being back in the training room reminded me how powerful our language really is.
Many people know me as a Registered Nurse or Women's Vitality Coach, but I'm also a Master NLP Practitioner,Hypnotherapist and Trainer. Over the coming months I'll be sharing more about how our thoughts, beliefs and internal communication shape the way we experience life.
I'm also excited to share that my new website is now live, bringing together many of the tools, resources and programs I've been creating. Over the coming weeks I'll also be opening bookings for my new coaching programs, including 🌿 The Vitality Journey™, a supportive journey for women who are ready to restore their energy, rebuild their confidence and reconnect with themselves.
As I finish writing today, I'd love to leave you with one gentle reminder. Self-care isn't about stepping away from others; it's about remembering to include yourself. When you care for yourself with the same kindness you offer everyone else, everything begins to shift. You feel calmer, you communicate differently, and you lead with a little more grace.
And perhaps that's where real self-care leadership begins.

✨ A Little Sneak Peek...
I'm also excited to share something new with you over the coming days.
Over the past few months, I've been exploring a wellness product that has genuinely surprised me. As many of you know, I only ever share products that I've personally used and experienced myself.
Have you heard of Carnosine?
I hadn't either… until recently.
The more I've learned and experienced the more fascinated I've become.
Next week I'll be sharing why it's creating so much interest around the world, what I've discovered, and why it's become part of my own healthy ageing and wellness routine.
I can't wait to tell you more.
